Let it be known; there is only one reason I came onto Blogger.com in the first place - what used to be a small site known as XANGA.COM. (Should I have considered mentioning ASIANAVENUE.COM?)

Don't be alarmed, this is not a test... nor an advertisement for that matter. This is simply a payment of homage to a revolution that has changed the methods people use to stay public.

At the time (2000) there was very little known about the blogging movement. Today as we look back at the inception of weblogs, there are two questions that should be asked. One: which came first? xanga or blogger? Alt+tabbing into wikipedia.com will give you absolutely no insight to this question. Perhaps a better question is when did society become conscious of weblogs. My 53 year old mother knows what xanga is. My neice uses Live Journal and she is 13. I understand that this is a relatively rare occurence statistically. You can be assured there is little meaningful content that arises from my mothers or my neice's postings. Just casual reading and analysis of two people I care for. The content that is worth money, professional blogging, and censorship to a degree have pacifed true speak and conviction.

Why is there an unspoken agenda and code of conduct in these sites today?

These are just electronic journals right? Evolving past the pen and paper should not mean we are no longer free to write about our lives the way we do on a piece of paper. Perhaps the future will bring a movement where agendas and codes produce meaningful content that contributes to our social identity as a whole.. not just a tech saavy community of 80+WPM typers.

Afterthought:

I read one of my Xanga 2007 posts.... what an idiot.

Xanga is now ridiculously hard to navigate.
